Professional Interests: Dr. Lancaster is a member of the department’s mathematics education research group. His research interests include: attitudes of elementary teachers toward statistics; development of materials to enhance (1) middle school student number sense and (2) student understanding of measures of center at the AP statistics/ introductory undergraduate statistics level; the teaching of algebra at the middle school level; and the extension of Cognitively Guided Instruction tenets into the upper elementary grades.
