Solution.  Use polar coordinates  [Graphics:../Images/ComplexFunPowerRootModHome_gr_300.gif]  in the z-plane and  [Graphics:../Images/ComplexFunPowerRootModHome_gr_301.gif]  in the  w-plane.  The mapping  [Graphics:../Images/ComplexFunPowerRootModHome_gr_302.gif]  can be written as
