Exercise 23.  Use induction to prove that  [Graphics:Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_326.gif]  for all natural numbers n.

Solution 23.

See text and/or instructor's solution manual.

When [Graphics:../Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_327.gif] is clearly true that [Graphics:../Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_328.gif].

Suppose that, for some  [Graphics:../Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_329.gif],  that   [Graphics:../Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_330.gif] .

Then, using the triangle inequality and our induction assumption,

        [Graphics:../Images/ComplexGeometryModHome_gr_331.gif].

Thus the result is established by mathematical induction.
