Module for the Logistic Equation

Numerical Methods for O. D. E.  using Mathematica. (c) John H. Mathews, 2003

Background.

Population model is  [Graphics:Images/LogisticEquationDEMod_gr_1.gif].

To find a and b, consider the "linearization"  [Graphics:Images/LogisticEquationDEMod_gr_2.gif].

Then fit a straight line to the "linearized data."

Example 1. Use the following data for  1790  to  1930 for the population of the United States.
Find the constants a and b for the population model  [Graphics:Images/LogisticEquationDEMod_gr_3.gif].
