Conformal Mappings

Example 10.13. The transformation w = f(z) = sin(z) is a one-to-one conformal mapping
of the vertical strip |x| < [Graphics:c32.txtgr1.gif] onto the w-plane slit along the rays [Graphics:c32.txtgr2.gif].

The image is traced using a graph.

The mapping w = sin(z).

Thus, the image of the vertical strip |x| < [Graphics:c32.txtgr5.gif] is the w-plane slit along the rays [Graphics:c32.txtgr6.gif].
