After leaving Qualicum beach, we journeyed over to the western (and more remote and primitive) side of the island. The scenery over here was just incredible. I can't say enough about it!
One of the best ways to enjoy the scenery is to hike along the Pacific Rim Trail, a beautiful trail that travels nearly the entire length of the western coast of Vancouver Island. The trail is not overly difficult and affords wonderful views of the coast and the ocean, as you'll see below.
Mom and Dad stop for a picture along the Pacific Rim Trail.

While standing at this very spot, we observed several bald eagles surveying the land from atop the tall trees along the coast.
They were no-doubt in search of fish in the coastal waters below. It was really cool to see them perched there, and then to watch
them flying through the skies! I couldn't believe how many we saw!

A little island of trees is exposed at low tide on Schooner beach along the coast.

As advertised, the tide pools found at low tide were teeming with life. Look at all of these starfish!

I just love the ocean. Is this beautiful or what?

This is Radar Point, just outside of Tofino. This is some seriously primitive terrain folks! Just the small village of Tofino,
but you really start to feel like you're on another planet, cut off from the rest of the world when you're looking at rows and rows of
mountains in the background. The Pacific Ocean would be to the left and behind the direction this photo was taken.

The next day we continued exploring more of the Pacific Rim Trail. Again, I just can't believe what a blessing it was to
see such a sight!

On our second evening in the area, the fog began to roll in, bigtime. We still did manage to take this beautiful picture
along Tofino's harbor, and you can see the same seaplanes here as well. You can catch a flight back to Victoria on one of these
things if you want.

As dinnertime approached, thick fog rolled in, giving this remote wilderness an even more primitive and eerie feeling. It
didn't seem to bother the locals around town, though. But I remember thinking: "This is a long way from Los Angeles!!!!"

Mom and Dad get ready to survey the menu at our restaurant right out on the water.
